Crypto Break-Even Calculator

Buying and selling both cost money, so the price has to move before you are level. Enter your buy price and the fees you pay on each side.

Enter a buy price to see your break-even. Fees default to zero if left blank. Everything is calculated in your browser.

    How break-even is calculated

The buy fee increases what the position actually cost you, and the sell fee is taken out of the proceeds. So the break-even price is the buy price plus the buy fee, divided by one minus the sell fee. Fees on both sides compound slightly rather than simply adding together.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    What is a break-even price?

It is the price at which selling returns exactly what you put in, including fees. Below it you are realising a loss; above it you are realising a gain.

    How do fees change break-even?

Fees are paid on the way in and on the way out, so they raise the price you need to reach. A 1% buy fee and a 1% sell fee mean the price must rise by roughly 2% before you are level, before any spread or network fee.

    Does break-even account for tax?

No. Any capital gains tax owed in your jurisdiction applies on top, so your true break-even may be higher than the figure shown here.
